Chess in West Wales is on the rise — and the West Wales Chess League is delighted to welcome its newest addition: The Welcome Inn Chess Club in Llangyfelach.

I dropped by a few days ago, and the name truly fits — the atmosphere is warm, cosy, and perfect for good conversation over a meal.

Just five minutes from Morriston Chess Club (based at the Rugby Club), The Welcome Inn is carving out a special niche: a relaxed, non-competitive space for newcomers and casual players. No tournaments, no pressure — just friendly games and good company.
