Mark your calendars, chess enthusiasts! The West Wales Chess League is thrilled to announce the AO Jones Trophy 2025, taking place on Sunday, June 29th, 2025 at the fantastic Morriston Rugby Club.

What to Expect

This exciting 6-round Swiss rapidplay tournament promises a full day of competitive chess action, starting bright and early at 9:30 AM. With a time control of 20 minutes plus 5-second increments per game, you'll need to think fast and play smart!

Tournament Schedule - Sunday June 29th

Round 1: 9:30 am – 10:30 am
Round 2: 10:40 am – 11:40 am
Round 3: 11:50 am – 12:50 pm
Lunch Break: 12:50 pm – 1:50 pm (includes buffet!)
Round 4: 1:50 pm – 2:50 pm
Round 5: 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Round 6: 4:10 pm – 5:10 pm

Tournament concludes by 5:15 PM

Prizes will depend on the number of entries, with a guaranteed minimum first prize of £50 - and even more depending on participation! The prestigious AO Jones Trophy itself will be awarded to the highest-placed registered member of the West Wales Chess League.

The venue couldn't be more convenient - just 5 minutes from Junctions 45 & 46 on the M4! The tournament takes place in the comfortable first-floor bar area (with lift access for disabled players), and there's free parking available.
